Shift Plan
Mission Control
The engineers at Open System, do work 24/7 in Mission Control. Each Engineer is obligated to a defined number of various shifttypes (morning, afternoon, weekend, holiday etc.). Each month, the shift plan is published and everyone can look up their shifts and trade them with other engineers, for instance because you have a family gathering while you would have to do a weekend shift.
I was asked, to re-design the current webapp, which had, beside some logical bugs, a very poor user experience.
I iterated with a few engineers to get a better understanding of their painpoints and their needs. I won't go much in detail here, but it was quite clear that trading and looking up your next shift are the most important use cases.
A big issue in the former version was, that in the process of trading, it was not really clear which shift you are going to trade or offer in exchange. The first feedbacks of those engineers which I showed the prototype were positive about how I solved the problems. Personally I am also quite happy with the outcome so far. I am looking forward tackling down the admin views and the reporting views (balance sheet of shifts) as next.
I also took the opportunity to define a new name and create a unique logo for that.
