Data Platform
Logo Design
For an internal service I was asked to design a logo.
The service provides access to our internal data lake. At first I was working with visualizations towards water/lake, but shortly after I started with it, the service was renamed to OSDP - that means Open Systems Data Platform. Since it makes sense to use abbreviations for internal names, it is difficult to find a meaningful solution with such an acronym. Therefore I decided to work with the full name.
To make the brand stick, but especially to avoid a very long logo, I came up with a playful abbreviation that resulted in OS DATAPLTF.
During the process of finding a visual element, I soon started playing around with the characters D and P and tried different directions to visualize data and platform with them.

Open Systems is growing. As the business evolves, maintaining a coherent and captivating user experience for our interfaces is challenging. To keep our user interfaces coherent, we have created pyrene, a collection of components and the underlying design principles and foundations.
Based on React, we have built an extensive pattern library for Open System Mission Control.
My task was to create the foundation for the design system. This included developing our design principles and defining the design foundation as well as the color and shape language of our designs. In a second step, I had to identify existing components to be transferred to the new design system as well as define, specify and design new components to be created.
The logo design for Pyrene was also created by myself.
It is a very exciting and challenging work that is not yet finished as we continue to add new components to our design system.
